Presumably, the Russians are trying to protect the bridge from missile strikes by the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The satellite images show that on the beginning of August, 2022 the occupiers placed corner reflectors near the Antonivskyi road bridge across the entire width of the Dnieper above the water.

Such devices are usually designed to interfere with weapons that use radio illumination or active radar guidance to target, like the old soviet-era Air-to-Air missiles installed on Ukrainian MIG-29 Fighter Jets.

The occupiers installed a similar reflectors 20 kilometers upstream, near the Antoniv railway bridge.

Probably, the occupying forces of the Russian Federation in the Kherson region are thus trying to protect these engineering structures from missile strikes.

It is known that the Armed Forces used GMLRS guided rocket munitions from the M270 MLRS and M142 HIMARS missile systems to strike the bridges over the Dnipro River, which are controlled by the Russians.

These missiles use a guidance system with a GPS receiver and cannot be fooled by such baits.

At the beginning of July 2022, The Russians placed a project 436BYS(R) radio-target ship near the Crimean bridge.

It is a non-self-propelled vessel with a length of 45 m and a width of 8 m. Reflectors are installed on its nine masts, which simulate the effective dispersion area of the ship. The target was initially intended for testing anti-ship missiles.
